The Wire Rope Technical Board (WRTB) is an association of companies that manufacture more than 90% of the wire rope produced in the United States. Engineers from these companies:

* Promote the development of engineering and scientific knowledge about wire rope;
* Establish and review technical standards for military, government and industrial use;
* Promote development, acceptance and implementation of safety standards;
* Disseminate technical and engineering information to equipment manufacturers;
* Conduct and/or underwrite research for the benefit of the industry and user.
